Accounting at Babson

Understand the concentration. Build the path that fits you.

Babson's Accounting concentration is a four-course concentration that builds a foundation for careers in public accounting and industry. Students pursuing the CPA path usually need additional accounting coursework beyond the concentration.

Concentration Structure

Two required courses + at least two approved electives.

Required

ACC3500Intermediate Accounting I
ACC3501Intermediate Accounting II

Approved Elective Examples

TAX3500Taxes
TAX3650Tax Policy
ACC3510Financial Planning & Cost Control

Plan ahead: course offerings can vary by semester, and students planning to study abroad or pursue public accounting may need to sequence additional courses carefully. Always confirm current requirements with Babson and an accounting faculty adviser.

Public Accounting Path

Planning for the CPA?

The four-course concentration is a foundation—not a complete CPA licensure plan. Education, exam, ethics, and experience requirements vary by jurisdiction and are changing in a number of states.

Career Possibilities

Accounting can lead in many directions.

Babson identifies career paths including audit, tax, forensic accounting, mergers & acquisitions, corporate accounting, and internal audit.

Faculty Guidance

Use BAC as a starting point—not a substitute for academic advising.

BAC can help students understand the accounting path and prepare questions. For official concentration planning and CPA-related course sequencing, students should confirm requirements with Babson's Accounting & Law Division and their academic adviser.
